Successful Outdoor Paintball Gun Strategies

Kangaroo Jack asked:

The key to all effective outdoor paintball gun strategies is practice. Every professional paintball team spends many hours going over their paintball gun strategies. Practice allows you to have individual skills and enhance teamwork. There are four steps you should use when practicing outdoor paintball gun strategies.

Discussion

Before you even being training it is best to go over the various field plans as a team and decide on the best paintball gun strategies you should use. Consider the different situations you may run into and the plans you can use. Before you actually set foot on the field you want to make sure everyone is clear on what to do.

Dry Training

In this step you want to take the time to walk through all your paintball gun strategies. You don’t have to do this on the actual field, especially if you don’t know where its going to be. You can practice in your backyard if necessary, just make sure everyone knows what your paintball gun strategies look like when they are in progress.

Half-Speed Training

In this training method you will actually use paintballs. Go through all of your paintball gun strategies, but go slowly like you did with dry training. Don’t rush and use soda cans as targets. If you can hit soda can during training, you will have no trouble hitting your opponent during the game.

Full-Speed Training

Now you will be running through the field and using paint as if you were playing against real opponents. It is a good idea to do this first on the speedball field where you can get a feel for your paintball gun strategies and how the team works. Then you can do a practice run in the woods before you are ready to face your opponents.
Practice is a long and important process. By following the four steps of practice you can be successful every time you step on the field. However, some keys to successfully completing your paintball gun strategies include knowing the terrain; having good communication and teamwork; and being able to move effectively.

Know The Terrain

Study your terrain well and look for any advantages. If there are hills you can slowly climb up at a crouch. Then when you reach the top you can pop-up for a quick look before dropping to your stomach for protection. This way you can quickly and easily see what targets are available.

If the goal is to protect your flag then you should look for a tree that gives you good protection while allowing for movement. It may be a good idea to try sitting in the tree and suprising your opponents from above.

Communication and Teamwork

Communication is essential to outdoor paintball gun strategies. Make sure you have your movements planned so that everyone instinctively knows where to go and what to do just by watching each other. In outdoor paintball games communication doesn’t necessarily mean the verbal kind. You don’t want the other team to know what you are doing so silent communication is important. Choose a leader and base your reactive strategy off them. Choose your leader based on tactical experience, military sense and nerve.

Movement

The most important part of outdoor paintball gun strategies is movement. If you want to rush through the woods it is best to stay on uncluttered ground. When you are in the woods the spot you step on will have an impact on how loud you are. It is best to have comfortable hiking boots especially if the area is muddy and the ground is unlevel.

Another key to silence in outdoor paintball gun strategies is your hopper or paintball pods. If they are half-filled they will be as loud as baby rattles. You should choose pods that are about half or 3/4 the size of your hopper.

How Paintballs Are Made

Mike Lang asked:

Have you ever wondered how those thin yet sturdy shells were made that contain paint and can be shot out of a gun to splat all over your opponent? The process for making paintballs is pretty interesting and you might be surprised at what is used to make them.

Paintballs are made of a thin skin of gelatin that will break upon contact. They are filled with non toxic, water soluble ingredients that are colored by a dye. The paint is biodegradable and will come out of clothing or off human skin with just water. When the paintball hits a person it splats color signifying they have been hit.

Paintballs are made on special machines that aren’t available to the public as the process is too intricate and the machines are extremely expensive. The following process is a rather complicated and lengthy one that only manufacturers of paintballs can do.

To make the hollow shell of the paintball, the gelatin is melted down and other additives are introduced while color is added and blended in. This mixture is run through an encapsulation machine, the same type of machine that drug companies use to make gel caps. The machine forces the gelatin onto a cooled drum which produces a thin sheet of gel called a ribbon. Two ribbons each pass over their own rotating die, or mold, that forms each half of the ball. The dies press against each other as they are rotated and eventually align to meet and seal making a round ball by placing the two half shells together. Once that happens the shells are filled with paint injected into them. You can usually see a seam on each paintball. This is where the dies came together. The paintball is sealed and comes out of the die being dropped out of the machine. The shells are very soft and bouncy at this time. The balls go down a conveyor belt and are then put in trays to dry. During the drying period the gelatin shrinks around the paint making them less soft and bouncy.

The paint that goes inside the two shells is made by combining polyethylene glycol, which is also found in cough syrup, thickened with wax.

Two tone or Dual Colored paintballs are made the same way except there are two colors of gelatin being introduced instead of one. One side will be one color and the other side will be another.

After the paintballs have dried they go through a counting machine and into bags and cartons for you to purchase.

The quality of paintballs depends on the quality of the ingredients used to make them. Some companies make excellent quality paintballs but they are very expensive, up to $100 per 2000 round count. These should be left to those playing in tournaments since it could be detrimental to the game to have a defective paintball break inside the barrel of the gun. Other paintballs can cost around $50 to $60 per 2000 round box and still might be too expensive for practice. Practice balls can be purchased in a 500 count for about $16. That is a little more affordable, but they won’t be the same quality of the ones you pay more for. Find the paintball that is right for you by trying several different varieties.

A Look At All The Various Types Of Paintball Games You Can Play

Gregg Hall asked:

If you are into paintball or thinking of getting into it, there are many variations that can be played. In addition to the simple choice of playing indoors or outdoors there are also variants within each of those genres. Despite the differences al of the games have a single purpose which is to shoot your opponent before they shoot you!

Here’s a look at some of the more popular types of paintball games being played today:

The first one we will have a look at is the old standby, “Capture the Flag”. This is a takeoff on the game of the same name that many of us are familiar with. The way the game is played is by each of the teams trying to find and capture the opposing team’s flag while guarding their own flag from being taken. Victory is achieved by getting the opponent’s flag safely back to your base camp without being killed.

Another popular game is called “Elimination”. In this game the first team to succeed in taking out all of the participants in the opposing team is deemed the winner. This is a fun game, even if only one remains standing his team wins.

Center Flag is a variation of the Capture the Flag game, in this version the game starts with a flag being placed in a neutral area usually in the center of the field, the team that is able to get the flag all the way through to the opposing team’s end of the paintball field wins the game.

Resurrection is a variation of Elimination except that in this version players may resurrect or come back into the game at the designated starting point once they are shot. This game is sometimes played in conjunction with Capture The Flag.

The last paintball game variation we will look at is one sometimes called “Just Plain Crazy”, also known as superman, total elimination, and counterstrike. This extremely brutal version is played solo or on teams and begins with each player or team at opposite sides of the field. Next they rush to the middle of the field and begin firing with the last person standing or the last person on a team winning the game.

This is usually done at the end of a round of paintball to get rid of paintballs and expend the CO2 cartridges or empty tanks. You are not eliminated with a single shot like in other variations, people quit due to pain or from running out of paintballs or air.

Why Paintball Is Popular

Andri Irawan asked:

Paintball is fast becoming one of the most popular games around. It has become an alternative past time from the usual athletic games being played; and it has become one of the most exciting outdoor sports in the world. Anybody can play paintball, regardless of race, sex, age and social status. It is a game for people who have taste for competition and adventure.

The game combines two of the most popular childhood past times: tag and hide-and-seek, the objective being to capture the flag of the enemy while protecting one’s own.

There are several reasons for the popularity of paintball:

1. It is the team sport that enables one to remove an opponent from the game without being penalized for it. In fact, removing one’s opponent is very much part of the game. It is the survival of the smartest and the quickest.

2. There is a strong sense of danger, not necessarily a physical one. The threat of being removed from the game makes it more exciting for the participants. But since it is only a game, the fear is not enough to make one mentally-incapacitated. With the right safety gear, no one is really in any real danger. It is all in the mind.

3. All players are equal. Experience is the only basis of one’s edge over the other player. Factors such as race, gender and age do not put one ahead of the other.

4. There is a total absence of physical contact. There is no need for a player to manhandle his opponent so that he can be eliminated from the game. One only needs to shoot the opponent, which can be done from a relatively safe distance. Very few injuries and no deaths have resulted from playing paintball.

5. There is no need to be an athlete. Playing paintball does not require extreme physical strength. In fact, the game can be played with very few physical movements.

6.No one really needs to be experienced to enjoy the game. Though it matters, a lot of old-time players find themselves surprisingly eliminated by first-time participants. It is anybody’s game.

7. It is gadget-crazy. Everybody likes gadgets. Paintball requires a lot of them.

Paintball is a very stimulating and exciting sport. Playing the game gives one the chance to renew the inner child in people. It enables one to maximize his sense of adventure, without risking life and limb for that sought-after rush.

Paintball Enthusiasts Have Different Paintball Fields From Which to Choose

Korbin Newlyn asked:

For those who are enthusiastic about paintball they have two primary selections when planning an excursion in paintball. Number one is the Commercial paintball type of field and the second one is the “outlaw” type of paintball field. These two unique variations of paintball fields differ to a great degree and have to be compared before you make a decision as how either one best fits your personal needs and the needs of the other participants.

The Commercial Paintball Field Is An Excellent Method To Try Some of the Paintball Competitions

One of the best ways for a beginner to experience paintball would be the commercial type of paintball field and then come to a conclusion if this type of sport is one that they would be interested in spending time as well as money in playing.

One of the benefits of a commercial paintball field is that you can rent all of the necessary equipment, for instance a marker (paintball gun), mask as well as protection for the eyes, paintball ammunition as well as compressed air. This type of equipment are primary tools needed to play successfully as well as in a safe manner and by renting the equipment for the player who is doing this the first time is an excellent way to find out if this is the type of sport that is something they enjoy or not.

Additionally, the size of commercial fields are typically small and have many bunkers as well as forts so you can keep yourself hidden as well as evade your competition. You will also find that there are referees there to oversee the game and make sure that they rules are followed and everyone plays safely. For a person that has not played paintball, the commercial paintball field is a great way to get to experience the game while not having to make a big financial commitment in equipment.

The “Outlaw” Paintball Field Frequently Needs Teamwork To Defeat An Opponent

Paintball fields known as “Outlaw” are typically informal types of wooded areas where a bunch of friends and colleagues get together to play a game of paintball. There are numerous safety rules of thumb that should be adhered to whenever paintball is played. Some of the general rules to follow is to make sure that the entire group is calibrating and measuring the velocity of each paintball gun with a “chronograph”. Also putting on the needed safety regulated equipment as well as following the other general safety rules.

Paintball is a highly enjoyable game to play as long as everyone in your group realizes as well as follows the primary safety guidelines. These type of “Outlaw” games have been nicknamed “woodsball” amongst paintball enthusiasts. You will find in “woodball” that the terrain is frequently challenging, giving physical challenges such as valleys, trees, hills, shrubs etc. These external types of difficulties add to the total challenge of the game itself, hence making “woodsball” a highly popular field of choice for numerous people who are enthusiastic about paintball.

An Urban Paintball Delight, Tourney Ball Furnsihes Numerous Unique Challenges

There is a third kind of paintball field which is known as Tourney ball field. This smaller sized paintball field has numerous bunkers that are filled with air that are arranged in similar positions on two different sides of the field. What this accomplishes is that each team is faced with an identical mirror image of the competitive field, with each team holding their own side. The tourney ball fields are typically located in areas that are urban and are very well liked alternative to that is “Woodsball. Tourney all has different types of variations; one is that of “speedball” and “hyperball”, these are additionally located almost exclusively in urban areas.

How to Play Paintball Safely

kevin asked:

Apart from having fun, an important consideration when you play paintball is everyone’s safety. Although paintball is one of the safest sports you can play, the safety aspect should not be taken for granted. In paintball there is an important emphasis on putting safety first; being mindful of yourself and other players. Here are some useful tips for keeping safe when you play paintball.

You should wear goggles or a mask at all times during a game. Ideally, the mask should cover the whole head, fit securely and be comfortable. Regular glasses or sunglasses are not sufficient to protect you from fast flying projectiles when you play paintball.

You should always wear thick, long sleeved shirts and full-length pants to fully protect your arms and legs. Better still, cover your vulnerable areas with hard plastic body armour or a padded paintball suit. Collars, boxes and gloves all give added protection.

You should have no physical contact with another player; paintball is a non-contact sport. Keep your distance when you play paintball.

You should not shoot at an opponent within a range of five meters. A paintball can cause serious injury when fired at close range. When you play paintball it is wise to keep a distance of five meters between players at all times.

You should not shoot at a player when he is holding his gun aloft with both hands. A player in this position has either just been marked and is leaving the field or he has surrendered. Either way he is defenceless and is not a target.

You should not consume alcohol before, during or after the game as it will impair your judgement and reactions drastically. You will endanger yourself and other players when you play paintball.

You should have a plug inserted in the marker’s barrel at all times when you are off the field to avoid accidental firing. You should avoid contact with co2 if your gun has leakage as it can cause freeze burns on your skin. Never carry your marker by its co2 supply hose as this could lead to leaking gas.

You should maintain your gun and equipment thoroughly to maximise safe and effective performance. Ideally, you should strip down your gear straight after every game, then clean and lubricate it before you put it away so its ready to go the next time you play paintball.

You should never fire your marker outside of the playing boundaries or at anyone not involved in the game; including the referee!

You should never leave your gear, especially the marker, unsupervised between games. Always ensure it is locked away safely when not in use and kept out of the reach of children.

You should invest in chronographs to control the speed of your paintballs. The maximum allowed velocity required for safety when you play paintball outdoors is 300 feet per second (200 feet per second indoors).

You should avoid blind-firing; this is a dangerous practice as you can’t see what you’re firing at and you could hit someone at point blank.

You should avoid overshooting; it is unnecessary and potentially dangerous to repeatedly shoot at an opponent once you’ve marked them.

Paintball is safe if you follow all the safety precautions and are mindful of yourself and others. Don’t be complacent when you play paintball. Any sport is dangerous if you play it  irresponsibly. Safety needs to be worked at to ensure you get the maximum enjoyment out of the sport.

Paintball Basics

Andri Irawan asked:

Paintball is a safe, simple yet challenging and strategic sport that is played usually by two teams, each with at least two players. Adults and kids alike enjoy this sport as they often refer to it as an advanced or improvised game of tag.

Tournaments attract many spectators of all ages, as it is a very exciting game to watch.

Paintball games are of various types, however, the most popular game often played is called “capture the flag”. The object or the goal of this game is for teams to advance to the opponent’s base, move the other team’s flag to its destined location, at the same time guarding your own flag.

The paintball field has many obstacles such as tires, forts, old cars, hay and the newest are “inflatables” that are constructed as refuge for team players; making the game all the more exciting, as if participating in an actual game of war in videos.

When one is hit, it can hurt briefly and at times give players bruises. Players are typically required to be in long sleeves shirt and pants, making sure that the color is not be identical as that of the judge and complete paintball gear such as mask, helmet and goggles for safety.

The sport of paintball has a distinct and accurate set of rules that are strictly followed. The producer of the tournament is the absolute authority in regard to either an alteration or addition to the rules; marshals oversee the event, and their decision is always final. No dispute on the paintball field is accommodated or entertained.

A military approach to paintball is useless, as that knowledge is recognized and understood by the teams. A team’s tactic should be carefully planned; your team’s line of attack will not be known by the opposing team, and there should be a quick switch of plans in case something goes wrong.

There must be a lot of team work involved, as everyone moves through the field. As a team member moves, there should be others to guard and keep watch and give off covering shots when necessary. A team that moves together with a common objective will have a great chance of succeeding in this game.

Communication in the field is also very important. A team-mate can shout the position of the opponent. The moment that a player is seen, the game for that player is up; so there is no reason for you to keep quite; instead, inform the others the location of the enemy.

The excitement of this game concludes when you are seen and eliminated – a situation that all team players struggle to avoid.

Information About Paintball Bunkers

Kangaroo Jack asked:

Paintball is a sport that shown tremendous growth in the United States. Information about Paintball reveals that if the appropriate gear is worn during the game, this sport is considered one of the safest sports to play. It is even a bit more safer than tennis. Information about paintball shows that it has become very popular because it has been widely sought since since it was first introduced as a game called “Survival”. When the sport first began, there were no paintball mines, grenades or any different styles of weapons.

Recent information about paintball shows that you can implement a variety of different tactics to win the game. For example, the use of using paintball bunkers give you more efficiency and helps you in the game. You can hide behind these bunkers to protect yourself. It is a great defense weapon.

Making the best of these Paintball Bunkers

To use the information about paintball and paintball bunkers to create different tactics for the game to correctly maneuver your way around correctly. You must get comfortable with the paintball marker that you are using. This can be a person or a motionless target that you are aiming at. It will help you to prevent being a target yourself and get more balls down the range.

Make sure you stay closely behind the bunkers and then use the snapshoot tactic as your secret weapon against your opponent. Information about paintball will teach you what you need to know about snapshooting. Snapshooting is good way to wait out your opponent so that they don’t know what your next move will be. When you pop out of your bunker and shoot the paintball, then duck back in and wait some more. Your opponent will be caught off guard, and you will always be covered. However, you have to practice and hone this skill to master the technique.

You will learn information about paintball that will also teach you how to shoot from both sides of the bunker that you are hiding behind. You will be able to shoot your targets all around you while you still keep hidden behind the bunker. Shooting from both sides help you to have a better range both from the left and the right of the paintball bunker and yuu are able to confuse the person that you are playing against. You are able to create different angles at the same time.

Your opponent may hit you with a barrage of paintballs, but the information about paintball that you learned and through practicing should enable you to strike back effectively. All you need to do is to get down tighter in the bunker and come out only when you are ready with your shoulders lined up to hit your target. Whe you shoot from the right side of the bunker, put your left kee forward and then shoot with your right hand. Do the opposite when you are shooting from the left side.

It is apparent that information about paintball has proved invaluable to highlight that the most important aspect of the sport is the paintball bunker. Once you get onto the paintball court, you have to use your bunker wisely to protect yourself from harm.

Paintball Pistols: Pros and Cons

kevin asked:

Paintball pistols are small pocket paintball guns loosely resembling pistols. They are either pump action or semi-automatic firing. They are usually .68 caliber and powered by a 12 gram co2 power let or cartridge. They are most successfully used as a sidearm or back-up gun to complement a main weapon of choice. There are pros and cons to carrying paintball pistols as compared to standard paintball guns.

PROS

Paintball pistols are extremely light and portable. They are very useful in woodsball because they are compact and can be kept in a pocket, harness or holster.

They are highly manoeuvrable enabling you to move around corners and across the field more easily. They are useful for those tight spots on the field that require quick responses and the ability to shoot fast and hit hard.

Pistol markers are ideal for bunker assaults and quick hit and run or intimidatory tactics. They make the perfect sidearm in a last resort situation.

Most paintball pistols are quick and easy to reload; Some take literally seconds to drop and reload a new magazine. This makes for much swifter action on the field. They are highly upgradeable and easy to disassemble and clean.

CONS

Because of their shorter barrels, paintball pistols lack the accuracy of a good rifle. Most pistols perform best within a 25-50 meter range. If you need to shoot further, a longer barreled gun is a better option. Shorter barrels give paintballs less time to stabilize before leaving the gun, which results in less accuracy over a greater distance.

Pistols have a smaller ammunition capacity than standard paintball guns. This leaves the player at a severe disadvantage against an opponent.

Paintball pistols have a smaller air capacity and are not as powerful as the longer barreled markers. They are usually powered by a 12 gram co2 cartridge. Depending on the weather conditions and how the pistol is chrono’d, you can only expect around 30 shots from one cartridge. This, again, puts you at a disadvantage against a player with a more powerful weapon.

Paintball pistols have their place in the game. They are light weight, easy to handle, highly manoeuvrable and quick loading. They are particularly handy in scenario ball or woodsball as an efficient sidearm. You must, however, be aware of their limitations and not expect the same performance from them as you would from a standard paintball marker.

Paintball Do you Want the Advantage?

Joel pearce asked:

Having the best gear helps having an advantage over your opponent when playing paintball. Little things like lighter vests, goggles, helmets, gloves and of course your gun. If you take your paintball seriously you’ll know what I’m on about. Having lighter gear means more movability, more energy and smarter thinking. But you must choose your gear carefully some paintball gear looks good but in actual fact could slow you down or won’t provide you with the stealth or accuracy you will need to win the game.

How can you tell which gear is right for you. Well it will all be determine by your level of game play if you are a beginner start of with the basic rented gear. Doing this gives you a better idea about the gear associated with paintball. Playing with rented paintball gear for the first time will provide you with information on which things are uncomfortable, to heavy or just won’t fit you right. This is a great way to find out about paintball gear and the way the game is played.

Experienced Players know that paintball guns are an important factor. Prices can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. So let’s talk about paintball guns there are hundreds of different guns on the market but which ones give you that big advantage. Obviously having a lighter gun will increase your moveability but what about the length of the gun barrel? In my opinion the ideal length of your paintball gun should be around 8 to 14 inches having a barrel any longer really doesn’t provide any advantages. It does not give you more accuracy, makes movability a lot harder and of course the gun it self will be heavier. Take your time when finding a paintball gun ask other gamers which gun they prefer best for there style of game.

The right gear can mean the difference of winning and losing but also more importantly safety. Make sure you find good strong safety gear. Your safety gear should fit your body Comfortably having lose paintball gear can be dangerous especially goggles and your helmet. So make sure you find the right gear to protect yourself and give you the best possible advantage over your opponent, but please remember have fun!! Your, not going to win every game, it’s a team sport you can’t win it by yourself.

I wish you and your friends the best on your next paintball game experience and hope you enjoy the adrenaline rush playing paintball provides.
